The Textile Institute 85tth World Conference 2007, was held at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo Sri Lanka. As Membership Manager, I would like to express how delighted I am to have met with so many members, new members and delegates at the conference.

The Textile Institute has over 3000 members and this gave me the opportunity to put a number of names to faces. It also allowed me to hear the current views of our members person to person.

The Textile Institute would like to thank the principal sponsors Marks and Spencer who enabled the organising committee to provide an international forum where the textile, clothing and footwear world met to discuss current issues affecting their industry. It was a truly professional and qualitative technical program giving the delegates the opportunity of hearing what is happening in their sector. The conference incorporated a number of social occasions, where delegates met in less formal surroundings. The evening entertainment began with Welcome Cocktails in the Atrium Lobby at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel where much networking took place. The conference dinner a 'beach party' was enjoyed by all and held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.
