The Textile Institute is a unique organisation in textiles,
clothing and footwear. It was incorporated in England by
a Royal Charter granted in 1925 and is a registered charity.
The Institute has individual and corporate members in up to
80 countries, the membership covers all sectors and all
disciplines in textiles, clothing and footwear. Within the global textiles, clothing and footwear industries the aim of the Institute is to facilitate learning, to recognise achievement , to reward excellence and to disseminate information.
International Sustainability Student Design Competition
The TI invites students worldwide, to take part in designing a Furoshiki (an ingenious traditional Japanese carrying/wrapping square) for our world conference. This is design with sustainability in mind, as it is to be printed on ethically sourced fabric, with the winning submission to be handed out to each delegate on arrival as a keepsake from this prestigious and historically significant event. At The Textile Institute's 100th Birthday AGM (Annual General Meeting) on Monday the 10th May, Mr Andreas Weber CText FTI, senior vice president sales, marketing and parts, and a member of the Executive Board of SwissTex Winterthur AG, Switzerland was unanimously voted in by the membership of The Textile Institute as its new World President. Concurrently Mr John R Wilson OBE deputy chairman of UKFT was also unanimously voted in to the position of Chair of Council of The Textile Institute. Click HERE for full details.
